On Friday April 26th 2013, members of the Hawai`i Community presented Lei to Washington State Senators.
Ms. Lihu`e Ling then prayed a Pule Kakou (Prayer for Everyone) and sang the Doxology in Hawaiian.
It was the first time the opening prayer in the Senate was done in Hawaiian.
Mahalo to the Hawai`i Visitor & Convention Bureau for the Lei.

Washington State Lt. Governor Brad Owens introduces Lihu`e Ling for the Hawaiian Prayer and Doxology in front of the Washington State Senate.

Prayer for Everyone

Our kind and gracious father who art in heaven. We bow are heads and pray for thy guidance and enlightenment.

We give thanks for our beloved lawmakers and state leaders who have dedicated their time and effort for their fellow citizens in our much-loved State of Washington.

Our creator, we ask thou to protect all of our citizens who may be in harm's way fighting for our freedom, which we so dearly love and cherish. We ask a blessing on those who are sick and afflicted, that they may be comforted in thy loving embrace.

We ask the citizens of Washington State to reach out to one another with an attitude of Aloha as we honor each other’s differences with respect and compassion.

Heavenly father, we ask thou to bless our world leaders as they search for ways to find peaceful resolution to conflict; enabling our children protection to live in peace and harmony.

We ask for these blessings with Aloha in the name of our holy Savior —Amen
